Two Injured in Multi-Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 70

A St. Peters man was injured in a four-vehicle crash on Friday night.

A St. Peters man was injured in a four-car crash on westbound Interstate 70 last Friday night

Jeremy Helmholtz, 22, of , was transported for St. Joseph's Hospital-West by St. Charles County EMS after being involved in the crash just east of Bryan Road on 11:34 p.m. on July 6. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Helmholtz had minor injuries. 

The crash report says the Gregory Hanks, 21, of O'Fallon, Joshua Kiel, 27, of O'Fallon and Helmholtz were driving westbound on Interstate 70 in lane one on motorcycles. A fourth car, driven by an unknown driver, was in lane two. The fourth car changed lanes from two to one and struck Hanks' motorcycle, causing the vehicle to overturn. Kiel then hit Hanks' motorcycle and the motorcycle struck the median.

Helmholtz and Hanks both collided, causing both to overturn. The fourth vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway. The driver over-correct and travelled off the right side and into the media. The driver of the fourth car then left the scene. 

Along with Helmholtz's minor injuries, Hanks was also taken to the St. Joseph Hospital-East with minor injuries.

Hanks' motorcycle was totaled in the crash. Helmholtz and Kiel both sustained extensive damage.
