The biggest race of 2012 looks to be in Ward 3. Current Board president Tommy Roberts will face Burton Biermann and Terri Violet. Violet ran against Gus Elliott last spring and —she received 47.23 and lost by less than 100 votes. Biermann, also  came up short last spring. The other three races in St. Peters will be the incumbent running unopposed.

St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano has been serving the city in some capacity since 1983. He started off as a Ward 3 Alderman from 1983 until 2007 when he took over for Shawn Brown as mayor. Pagano filled out the last year of Brown's term and won his own four-term in 2008.

Pagano figures to be mayor for another four years after no one filed to challenge him. Despite Brown's claims in 2009 that he would run again, Pagano will run unopposed in 2012.

Filing for the 2012 General Election began in December, but Pagano got an early start on the process. In the summer of 2011 Pagano , alongside Jerry Hollingsworth. Like Pagano, Hollingsworth will also have an easy path to another term as the alderman from Ward 2.

Hollingsworth, who has represented Ward 2 since 1992, will be running unopposed.

The third unopposed race will take place in Ward 4. Patrick Barclay has served Ward 4 since 2002 and has never missed a Board meeting. No one decided to challenge Barclay.

The 2012 General Election will take place April 3.
