Chickens on the Plate for Board of Aldermen

St. Peters Board of Aldermen set to decide fate of urban chickens at Thursday's meeting.

St. Peters residents will find out Thursday if chickens can be raised in the city.

After many weeks of debate, the Board of Aldermen will vote tonight on Bill No. 11-62. The bill would allow residents of the city to raise up to four hens within city limits. The so-called urban chickens would be restricted to a regulated coop and would fall under strict rules.

Citizens wanting chickens would have to apply for a yearly permit and be inspected by the health department before owning any chickens.
