Mayor Invites Spurned Senior Apartment Developers to Check out St. Peters
Town and Country's Planning and Zoning Commission recommended Allegro Senior Living Center's application be denied. Mayor Len Pagano said he'd like to see the developers consider St. Peters.
St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano invited the developers of a senior housing complex that was turned down by the Planning and Zoning Commission in Town and Country to come check out St. Peters.
Pagano invited the developers of the proposed Allegro Senior Living Center to check out available space in the special business district in the city.
Pagano said he watched coverage of the Town and Country Planning and Zoning meeting last week, at which about 40 people spoke against the proposal.
"The residents there made such an objection to senior housing in their cities, they didn’t want it," Pagano said. "I couldn’t believe their reasonings."
Town and Country residents raised concerns about the development including that the land would have to be rezoned, that it would add traffic to an already crowded area.
The Town and Country Board of Aldermen could still approve the proposal with a two-thirds majority vote.
