Missouri Republicans Fire Up St. Charles County Residents at Rally

Fresh of victories in their respective primaries, Missouri Republican politicians and candidates set out on a victory tour around the state to address supporters and push toward November. 

At 6 p.m. Wednesday evening the convoy made its way to the  in . The site, now the home of the St. Charles County Republicans headquarters, was packed with supporters waiting to great the elected officials and candidates. 

Missouri Senator Roy Blunt, Missouri's 2nd Congressional District candidate , Missouri candidate for governor , current U.S. Representative for Missouri's 2nd congressional district and candidate for the Senate , Missouri auditor Tom Schweich, Missouri Secretary of State Candidate  and Missouri Treasure candidate  all took turns addressing the crowd. Each took turns taking on their opponents, and current president Barack Obama. 

Wagner took the stage first and acted as emcee for the event. She praised the traditionally red-voting practice of St. Charles County. 

"St. Charles County is GOP country," Wagner said to raucous applause.

Wagner got big cheers when talking about .

"He's a bold, outstanding choice," she said before adding she couldn't wait until he debated with current Vice President Joe Biden. 

Blunt also praised St. Charles County saying that when it comes to elections, there's no more important county in the state for Republicans. 

When Akin stepped to the microphone, he stressed the importance of freedom. He said freedoms were being taken away and, if elected, he would help take America back. Akin positioned himself as the opposite of his opponent Claire McCaskill.

He said she would keep doing what Obama wanted, and that would stop on his watch. He also vowed to vote down Obamacare if given the chance saying he had voted 30 times against it while in the House. 

Schweich spoke to the crowd about the importance of electing the Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan ticket. He said that hopefully, in a few years, the Obama era is just a distant nightmare. 

Spence, who Wagner kept saying was going to be the new CEO of the state, mocked current Governor Jay Nixon for recent campaign speeches. He said Nixon was bragging about having a balanced budget, something that Missouri law requires. 

Spence said he wanted to turn Missouri from a "lagger to a leader."

Fresh off his win last Tuesday, Kinder couldn't stop predicting more wins. He said that those in attendance were part of the winning team and would be again in November. 

Schoeller and McNary closed out the event with more applause lines. 

Joe Smith, who won the , was on hand at the event to support his fellow Republicans.

"Democrats don't have a plan," he said. 

He said he was a big supporter of Spence, but was looking forward to meeting and hearing from the other candidates. He praised the state's Republicans for organizing the vent. 

"It's a great idea," he said. 

The event didn't go off with full support. A group of pink-shirt wearing protestors quietly stood along the street. Affiliated with the Planed Parenthood Advocates, the group wore shirts that said "Women Are Watching." 

Angie Postal said the group was there to protest recent comments made by Akin. Postal said Akins supports making emergency contraceptives illegal, something the group strongly opposes.
