Planning and Zoning Approves Several Businesses, Grants Temporary Permits

Finishing in a record-hedging 23 minutes, the St. Peter's Planning and Zoning Commission approved two new business permits and allowed several temporary permits.

In a meeting that took 23 minutes, the St. Peter’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved two home-based business permits and four temporary use permits Wednesday night. The commission also made one recommendation for approval to the Board of Aldermen to name an access lane and carried one motion to approve the re-subdivision of a commercial lot.

, Under Cut Lawn Care failed to show up to request approval for a home based business. That item has been removed from any further agendas, now requiring the proprietor to re-file all paperwork.

Gags and Games, Inc. requested that their agenda item be moved to the July Planning and Zoning meeting. The request was granted.

The following permits were approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission:

  • The Commission approved home based business permits for Jewels by Jacq, an internet based jewelry making business, and Refined Recovery Solutions, LLC., a collection agency.
  • Baalman Produce gained approval for the sixth year in a row to set up their produce stand in the Co-Op parking lot along the north side of Main Street.
  • Tinsley Amusements received approval for a temporary carnival, consisting of two to four food booths, 15 carnival rides and eight to 10 game trailers. The carnival will run from September 1, 2011 with complete removal by September 11, 2011, in the parking lot of Mid-Rivers Mall, near Sears.
  • The Commission granted approval to 5R Processors, Ltd. to bring in one semi-trailer for the collection and recycling of consumer electronics. The recycling will at no charge to the public. 5R Processors will not collect bio-hazardous material. Collection date is July 9, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Commission recommended the naming of Hoffman Heritage Lane for approval to the Board of Aldermen. The lane is located on the south side of Highway 94 near Pitman Hill Road.

The motion was carried to allow the re-subdivision of Lot 2 at St. Peters Centre South, located at Mexico and First Executive Avenue.
