Proposition P, Board Appointments on the Agenda at Thursday's Board Meeting

The St. Peters Board of Aldermen will have a work session at 5 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, at the St. Peters Justice Center.

Seeking additional revenue to help fund storm water repairs, the city of St. Peters is talking about placing Proposition P on the Aug. 7, 2012 Primary Election Ballot. 

Proposition P, a 4/10 or a percent sales tax would be used to help the storm water program and the parks department. Projections made by the city show $4.8 million dollars annually could be collected with 2/3 going to storm water and 1/3 going to parks improvement. 

The Board of Aldermen will be briefed on Prop P during Thursday's work session. The board will meet at 5 p.m. at the . The regular meeting will follow at 7 p.m. The purpose of Thursday's Prop P discussion is to educate the Board, and the citizens, what the city plans do should the tax increase pass.

Prop P is just one of the items on Thursday's work session agenda. Other items include:

  • The board will appoint the aldermanic representatives to city boards and commissions. The board will also vote for a new board president. 
  • A draft resolution that would have the city join the regional Gateway Bike Plan will be presented. 
  • The board will get a presentation on concrete bids for various city projects.
