Special Prosecutor: No Charges Warranted in Harassment Case Involving Elliott
St. Peters mayor had ordered the investigation into claims that Ward 3 Alderman Gus Elliott had harassed a city staffer.
A special prosecutor has advised the city of St. Peters to not pursue any charges or impeach Ward 3 Alderman Gus Elliott.
After months of investigation, attorney Richard Brunk, a special prosecutor who was hired by the city this spring levied against Elliott, reached his decision.

"My investigation has resulted in a recommendation that no criminal or civil charges, including any contemplated harassment charges or impeachment proceedings, be pursued by the City against Mr. Elliott and that the City, along with all of the other parties, amicably resolve their differences without any party pursuing any further legal action."
ordered Brunk to investigate a harassment claim made against Elliott by the city’s Director of Community Relations, Lisa Bedian. The claim alleges Elliott harassed Bedian in February. investigated the claim, but dropped harassment charges against Elliott on April 10, saying it could not be proven, beyond a reasonable doubt, that harassment occurred.
