St. Peters Aldermen Ready to Meet

St. Peters Board of Aldermen will hold second meeting of October at 5 p.m. tonight.

For the second time this month, the St. Peters Board of Aldermen will be competing with the St. Louis Cardinals.

While most eyes will be on the Cards as they take on the Texas Rangers in Game 6 of the World Series, the Board will gather to the for the second meeting of October. The work session will start at 5 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

The work session meeting will kick off with discussion on a draft ordinance on the Proposed Water Service Line Insurance Program. The goal of the discussion is to put a measure on the ballot for the April 3rd, 2012, election. The ordinance would impose a tax on residents to repair water lines.

If passed by the Board, the item would appear on the ballots looking with the following wording:

For the purpose of repair or replacement of water lines extending from the water main to a residential dwelling due to failure of the line, shall the City of St. Peters, Missouri, be authorized to impose a fee not to exceed one dollar per month or twelve dollars annually on residential property for each water service line providing water service within the City of St. Peters, Missouri, to residential property having four or fewer dwelling units for the purpose of paying for the costs of necessary water service line repairs or replacements?

After the discussion, the Board will hear about budget adjustment and two requests for new purchases. The first request is about water meter replacements while the other deals with the purpose of a single axle dump truck.

At 7 p.m., the same time the Cardinals' game starts, the meeting will begin. The Board will vote on eight items at the meeting—one resolution and seven bills. One item the Board will be voting on will be the filing deadlines for the upcoming April 2012 election.
