St. Peters Board of Aldermen Set to Meet Twice

Board of Aldermen to have special meeting on Jan. 24 to authorize ballot for the April 5 General Election.

Just because it's Monday doesn't mean the Board of Aldermen can't meet.

The St. Peters Board of Aldermen normally meet on Thursdays. Tonight, Jan. 24, the Board will buck that trend and have a meeting at . In fact, the Board will have two meetings tonight. 

The first, beginning at 4:45 p.m., is a special meeting called my Mayor Len Pagano. The purpose of the short meeting is to have City Clerk Rhonda F. Shawto transmit to the St. Charles County Election Authority the legal notice to be published for the Regular General Municipal Election to be held in the City of St. Peters, Missouri on April 5, 2011." In simple terms, the Board will be approving the ballot for the upcoming election.

Following the special meeting, beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Board will meet to discuss the St. Peters Capital Improvement Plan. The Capital Improvement  covers the current fiscal year and deals with long-range planning. The current plan deals with the fiscal year 2011-12 to 2015-16.

From the city's website: "The capital projects and acquisitions included in the plan are fixed assets or major maintenance with a useful life of at least two years or improvements that extend the life of an existing City fixed asset by at least two years. Descriptions are provided for projects and capital assets that cost $50,000 or higher, projects with components that exceed $50,000 and multi-year projects that cost $50,000 or more over the next five years."

Both meetings will take place at City Hall, not the Justice Center. The meetings will be in the City Administrator's Conference Room on the second floor. The first meeting is at 4:45 p.m. and the second begins at 5:30 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public.
