Planning for the Francis Howell Board of Education's retreat will take place Thursday night.
During the board's first meeting of May, two agenda items will tackle the annual retreat. Every summer, once school is out of session, the board takes a retreat to hammer out some issues and get ready for the next school year.
Before the board can go, however, a date must be set. During Thursday's meeting members of the board will try to schedule a meeting time around the usual array of summer vacations. Once the date is set, the board will go into a work session to set the agenda for the retreat. Last year's topics mostly dealt with how the board could work better as a unit and how to make meetings run smoother.
The retreat planning is the only work session on the agenda for Thursday's meeting, but it won't be the only thing the board will be deciding. The board will have an informational session on the revised student code of conduct for the 2012-13 year. Changes to the code will be highlighted and the board will be able to offer changes or additions before voting to approve the code at a later date.
Other items up for discussion include:
- The board will vote on the support staff salary scheduled.
- Extra duty compensation for next year will be discussed.
- The board will vote on purchased more than $7,500. Included in the purchases are new handicap-accessible desks.
The Francis Howell Board of Education meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on May 3, at the District Administration building.
