Lutheran Cougars Getting New Turf Field For 2013 Season

When school is back in session this fall the field at Lutheran High School in St. Peters will have a new look.

Workers were out Monday afternoon working on the installation of a new  synthetic grass playing surface at Cougar Stadium. The RamTurf is being installed by ATG Sports.

Earlier this summer a sign outside the school let everyone know that the turf field was coming by the start if the 2013-14 school year. Workers then began tearing up the old grass field before laying down the new fake stuff.

The field is a bright green with blue endzones--a stark contrast to the old grass field that was often worn down by usage.

Synthetic grass fields have become commonplace at high schools around the country--especially in St. Charles County. Nearby Fort Zumwalt East has the fake stuff as does Zumwalt South. In late 2012 the Francis Howell Board of Education approved funds to turf the fields at Howell North and Howell Central.
