Put On Your Dancing Shoes: Dance Classes Coming to SCC

Social dance classes are coming to . 

Starting on April 10, students can learn moves from award-winning dance instructors Linda Landwher and Stan Mayer. The eight-week class is just one night a week and run until June 6. Classes will take place in the air conditioned and spacious College Center dance studio at SCC. 

Instructors Landwehr and Mayer are former professional champion dancers and have more than 25 years experience in both competition and instruction.

Students will be available to learn a variety of dance forms, including the waltz, rumba and jitterbug. All skill levels can attend, but dancers need to be 14-year-old and up. 

A partner is needed for every class but line dance. Registration is $46 per person.

The following eight-week social dance classes are available:

Sundays, April 10 to June 5

• Ballroom I (foxtrot, waltz, tango, rumba, swing): 12:55 p.m. to 1:55 p.m.
• Imperial Swing Basic I: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
• Merengue: 3:05 p.m. to 4:05 p.m.
• Jitterbug Swing I & II: 4:10 p.m. to 5:10 p.m.

Mondays, April 11 to June 6

• Ballroom II (foxtrot, waltz, tango, rumba, swing): 5:50 p.m. to 6:50 p.m.
• Ballroom I (foxtrot, waltz, tango, rumba, swing): 6:55 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.
• Ballroom III/Rumba II: 8 p.m. to 9 p.m
• Line Dance: 9:05 p.m. to 10:05 p.m. (no partner required)

Tuesdays, April 12 to May 31

• Imperial Swing Basic I: 6:55 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.
• Ballroom III/Foxtrot II: 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Imperial Swing Basic II: 9:05 p.m. to 10:05 p.m.

Wednesdays, April 13 to June 1

• West Coast Swing I and II: 5:50 p.m. to 6:50 p.m.
• Ballroom I (foxtrot, waltz, tango, rumba, swing): 6:55 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.
• Ballroom III/Tango I: 8-9 p.m.
• Ballroom II (foxtrot, waltz, tango, rumba, swing): 9:05 p.m. to 10:05 p.m.

Thursdays, April 14 to June 2

• Imperial Swing Basic I: 6:55 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.
• Imperial Swing Basic II: 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Imperial Swing Basic III (Lindy): 9:05 p.m. to 10:05 p.m.
