Vote Now: Choose the Top Girls Soccer Player from the First Week of Action

Show your school spirit by voting for your school's Patch Athlete of the Week.

Spring sports have officially begun.

Despite the rain, teams all across St. Charles County finally stopped practice and started playing real games. Girls soccer teams hit the pitch and played a few games in the opening week, which leads us to your Athlete of the Week poll.

Our choices for Patch's St. Charles County Athlete of the Week all hail from the same sport. This week, we're seeking the best of the best from the soccer field as we look at four girls who had top showings in the first week of the season.

The nominees are:

Danielle Schmitz—: The Zumwalt East girls soccer team is off to a 2-1 start and a big reason is the offensive contributions of Danielle Schmitz. In three games this season Schmitz leads the Lions with six points off two goals and two assists. The two helpers are a team high and the goals are tied for the team lead.

Miranda Pierce—: St. Charles West has burst out of the gate in the early season with a 3-0 record. In the net for all three wins has been Miranda Pierce. The Warriors keeper is 3-0 with a shutout. She's racked up 23 saves and has seen just four goals go past so far this season.

Emily Monroe—: The high-powered Crusaders are 2-0 with 13 goals already on the young season. Four of those goals belong to Emily Monroe. Leading the St. Dominic offense, Monroe has the most goals (four) assists (three) and points (11). Monroe has potted two goals in each of the two games this season for St. Dominic.

Erica Boyd—: Timberland has started the season 2-0 and have allowed just one goal this season. Netminder Erica Boyd has compiled a 2-0 record with one shutout. She's made eight stops on the season for the Wolves.
