Wrestling, Swimming Seasons Coming to an End at State Meets

The 13th week of the winter sports season is a big one. 

Let's look at the big game taking place in St. Peters this week. 

The Big One: Part One

• Who: (Girls Swimming) Missouri State Swimming and Diving Championships
• When/Where: Friday, Feb. 17, and Saturday, Feb. 18, at the . A full schedule can be found here. 
• Why the big deal?: Once again the St. Peters Rec-Plex will be the host site for the MSHSAA state championships. Top teams from around the state will hit the pool for the last meet of the season. State champions in individual events will be crowned, along with the top team in the state. 

The Big One: Part Two

• Who: (Wrestling) Missouri State Wrestling Tournament
• When/Where: Thursday, Feb 16 to Saturday, Feb. 18, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, MO. A complete schedule can be found here. 
• Why the big deal?: The wrestling season comes to an end at the three-day tournament known as the State Championships. Following the District Tournaments this weekend, the top wrestlers from all around the State, included some from St. Peters, will hit Mizzou Arena for the chance at State glory. 

• Who: (Boys basketball) Zumwalt East vs. Warrenton
• When/Where: 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14 and at 5:30 p.m. at East
• Why the big deal?: The regular season for the Zumwalt East boys basketball team comes to a close on Tuesday. The Lions will close out the regular season with a home game against Warrenton.

• Who: (Boys basketball) Zumwalt South vs. Francis Howell North
• When/Where: 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at South
• Why the big deal?: The South Bulldogs are 5-1 in the GAC North and 12-11 on the year. The Bulldogs will end the regular season, at home, against Howell North. 

• Who: (Girls basketball) Lutheran at St. Dominic 
• When/Where: 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, at St. Dominic 
• Why the big deal?: The Lutheran girls will get a chance to avenge its with a Friday road match. The Lady Cougars is 8-1 on the conference and 16-6 on the year.

Francis Howell Central

• Who: (Girls basketball) Howell Central vs. Francis Howell North
• When/Where: 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, at Howell Central
• Why the big deal?: What better way to close out the regular season than to play a rivalry matchup? The Howell Central girls will say good bye to the regular part of the season with a home finale against Howell North.
