Zumwalt South's Stewart Sisters Combine for Big Week

Bridget and Shannon Stewart win the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week after a dominating showing on the soccer field.

The Stewart sisters can't be stopped.

Fort Zumwalt South's Bridget and Shannon Stewart have been terrorizing goalies across St. Charles County this season to help the Bulldogs win some games. However, that's not the only thing the duo has been winning.

With an impressive 73 percent of the vote, Bridget and Shannon became the first co-winners of the St. Charles County Patch Athlete of the Week. The Stewarts defeated the field with 2,577 votes.

Here's how the voting went down.

Who is the St. Charles County girls soccer player of the week for the week of April 16?

  • Bridget and Shannon Stewart—:   2,577 (73 percent)
  • Abigail Griffen—Francis Howell North   904 votes (25 percent)
  • Megan Swanson—St. Dominic   26 votes (0 percent)
  • Julie Ireland—Holt   20 votes (0 percent)

Total votes: 3527

It's easy to see why Bridget and Shannon picked up the award. The duo were dynamite on the pitch for the Zumwalt South Bulldogs.

The Stewart sisters from Fort Zumwalt South had quite a productive week for the Bulldogs soccer team. So productive, in fact, that it's impossible to split up Bridget and Shannon. The Bulldogs went 3-0 last week with and scored a total 10 goals. The Stewarts combined for eight of the goals. Shannon had a three-game goal scoring streak and put up four goals (one game winner) and one assist. Bridget had back-to-back two goal games to give her a total of four goals (two game winners) and two assists. In total, the Stewarts scored eight and picked up three assists.
