Former St. Peters Hockey Player Brandon Bollig Wins Stanley Cup

St. Charles native Brandon Bollig is a member of the Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks.

The Stanley Cup could be making a trip to St. Charles County this summer.

Brandon Bollig, a Francis Howell grad and St. Charles native who started his hockey career at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, is among the newest winners of hockey's top trophy. Bollig's Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Boston Bruins 3-2 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday night to clinch the Cup.

Bollig played 25 regular season games with the Blackhawks during the regular season and appeared in five playoff games—including a game in the Stanley Cup Final.

With the Blackhawks win, Bollig will get his name engraved on the Cup and will become the first St. Louis-area born player to do so. Traditionally players on the winning team are given a day with the Cup and most have used the day to take the trophy back home.
