Friday Night Spotlight: Zumwalt East and South Host Saturday Matinees

In other action: Lutheran takes on Cardinal Ritter and Howell Central faces Zumwalt West.

Week 7 is here and there's some big matchup on the schedule this week as we enter the second half of the season. Let's see what games are going down for the St. Peters schools. 

Fort Zumwalt East (5-1) vs. Holt (3-3) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Change is coming to the top of the GAC Central standings.

The Zumwalt East Lions and Holt Indians are tied at 2-0—a tie that will be broken Saturday afternoon. In a rare weekend contest, the Indians will travel to East for a 1 p.m. start.

East is riding high entering the game. The Lions are on a three-game winning streak and, most recently, took down rival Zumwalt South 48-30 in Week 5. 

Holt sits at 3-3 this season after weeks of tight games. The Indians have scored 108 points this season, but have given up 106 making for a full slate of close calls. In Week 5, Holt topped Zumwalt North 19-12.

Fort Zumwalt South (3-3) vs. St. Charles West (4-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Zumwalt South started the season riding high and boasting a 3-0 record. After six weeks, the Bulldogs now sit at 3-3.

In Week 6, the Bulldogs got beat by rival Zumwalt East to extend their losing streak to three games. After giving up 38 points in the first three weeks of the season, the Bulldogs defense has surrendered 136 in the last three.

This week in a Saturday afternoon home game, the Bulldogs will face off with St. Charles West. The Warriors are 4-2 on the season and are red hot. After an 0-2 start, St. Charles West caught fire and has won four straight.

The Warriors are getting things done with balance. They've scored nearly double as many points as they've given up (162-82).

Lutheran High School of St. Charles County (2-4) vs. Cardinal Ritter (3-3) on Friday at 7 p.m. 

The Lutheran Cougars will try and snap their four-game losing skid on Friday after finally returning home. The Cougars started the season 2-0 with both wins coming at the friendly confines of home. After the wins, Lutheran went on a four-game road trip and picked up four losses. Will a return home put the Cougars back on track?

Cardinal Ritter will be the guest on Friday night. The Lions have won two in a row and, more impressively, have two straight shutouts. In the last two weeks, Cardinal Ritter have outscored the opposition 76-0.

Francis Howell Central (1-5) at Fort Zumwalt West (3-3) on Friday at 7 p.m

Francis Howell Central will hit the road for Week 7 to take on Fort Zumwalt West. The Spartans are coming off a loss in Week 6, while the Jaguars are entering the game fresh from a 45-0 thumping of Howell North.
