Friday Night Spotlight: Zumwalt East Looking to Claim GAC Central Supremacy

In other action: Zumwalt South takes on Washington, Lutheran faces O'Fallon Christian and Howell Central squares off with Howell North.

Week 5 is here and there's some big matchup on the schedule this week. Let's see what games are going down for the St. Peters schools. 

Fort Zumwalt South (3-1) vs. Washington (2-2) at 7 p.m.

The perfect season for the Zumwalt South Bulldogs ended in Week 4. After a 3-0 start, the Bulldogs hosted Zumwalt North in the first GAC Central contest of the 2012 season. In a tight contest, the Panthers were able to pull away 21-14 and come away with a win.

South will try and bounce back in Week 5 with yet another conference tilt. Still at home, the Bulldogs will welcome Central rival to Jack Ball Stadium.

Washington comes to St. Peters sporting a 2-2 record. The Blue Jays, like the Bulldogs, are heading into the game off a conference loss. In Week 4, Washington fell to Holt 31-27.

21-14 loss to Fort Zumwalt North

Fort Zumwalt East (3-1) at Fort Zumwalt North (3-1) at 7 p.m.

The Fort Zumwalt East Lions will hit the road in Week 5 for a big game. Sitting at 3-1 after four games, the Lions will get a chance to claim GAC Central supremacy on Friday night when it takes on the Zumwalt North Panthers. 

Both Zumwalt East and North are coming into Friday's game with identical 3-1 records. East won last week 21-7 against Cape Central and has been backed by a high-power offense that averages more than 24 points a contest. 

North, on the other hand, has won nothing but tight contests. The Panthers, fresh off a 21-14 win against Zumwalt South, has scored 49 points this year and has given up 42.

Lutheran High School of St. Charles County (2-2) at O'Fallon Christian (4-0) at 7 p.m. 

After a 2-0 start to the 2012 season, the Lutheran Cougars are now on a two-game losing skid. 

Last week Lutheran lost to JFK 37-14. It was the second straight week the Cougars' defense gave up 37 points. 

In Week 5, Lutheran will take on O'Fallon Christian. The Eagles are 4-0 and have won each game by an average of 34.25 to 10.

Francis Howell Central (0-4) vs. Francis Howell North (0-4) at 7 p.m

Someone will get a win Friday night at Howell Central.

The 0-4 Howell Central Spartans will host the 0-4 Howell North Knights. Both the Howell teams have struggled defensively this year. Central has given up 132 points this year and North has given up 168 points.
