Lady Spartan Sisters Score In Record Numbers
Two sisters who have both scored 1,000 points in their Lady Spartan career.
Sharese Jones made history last month when she became the third player in Francis Howell Central girl’s history to score 1,000 points in her basketball career.
Jones scored her 1,000 point Dec. 27 against Notre Dame at the Visitation Basketball Tournament. It came in the first quarter and was a layup. Her teammates went crazy.
“I knew was getting close,” Jones said.

The feat was announced at halftime of the game to the crowd that Jones got her 1,000th point. Howell Central gave Jones an award before a home game against St. Charles West.
“I was excited when I got it,” Jones said.

While she's the third in school history to reach the distinction, she's the second in her family. Her sister, Shakara Jones, accomplished the feat during her days playing for the Lady Spartans. Shakara graduated from Central in 2007 and was Miss Show-Me Basketball. She is now a senior for the University of Missouri Tigers and has 2,400 points in her Spartan career.
Sharese Jones is a junior and still has time to pass her big sister.
Her father Ron Jones, an assistant coach for the Lady Spartans, now has two daughters who scored 1,000 points in their Spartan careers.
“It was a exciting time for the whole household,” proud father Ron Jones said.
Sharese Jones is a guard, but plays post most of the time. She can be a dominate inside player, as evidenced by her 17-points-per game average.
Sharese Jones helped her team win the Warrenton tournament on Jan. 15. Jones scored 27 points in the semifinal and 21 points in the final. She scored half of her team’s points in both games.
Sharese has Div. I offers, but has not yet decided where she's headed. If she decides to join her sister at Mizzou, she'll have some big shoes to fill—Shakara recently scored her 1,000th point at Mizzou.
Two sisters and one proud father. The Jones family is no doubt rooted in basketball, as evidenced by the two girls with bright basketball careers. The team celebrated by going to Outback Steakhouse.
“They like steak,” Ron said.
