Rascals Report: River City Remains Hot, Increases West Division Lead

After a 4-2 week, the Rascals are now 1.5 games ahead of the Southern Illinois Miners in the Frontier League's West Division.

The River City Rascals are still rolling.

The long eight-game winning streak was snapped, but that didn't slow the Rascals down. Last week the Rascals went 4-2, extending its lead in the Frontier League's West Division to 1.5 games.

The Rascals no longer have an eight-game winning streak, but still have managed to win eight of their last 10 games.

  • Third baseman Chris McClendon is hitting .375 (8-for-22) with two homers and four RBIs in his last seven days. He also has five walks for a robust .500 on-base percentage.
  • First baseman Joash Brodin has two homers and six runs batted in for the Rascals in the last week. 
  • Pitcher Zach Sterner tossed a complete-game three hitter in last week. He struck out seven and walked just one in the victory.
  • Reliever Brandon Cunniff worked 3.2 innings or relief last week and gave up just one unearned run. He struck out six of the 16 batters he faced.

  • Outfield Jareck West is just 2-for-19 (.105) in the last week.
  • Pitcher Erick Carillo had a rough debut for the Rascals. On Saturday, Carillo gave up five earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched. 
  • Pitcher Don Lisi got rocked in his last start. He lasted just 3.1 innings while giving up six runs, five earned.
