Season Over: Fort Zumwalt East Football Falls to Camdenton in Sectional Game

Late comeback attempt by the Lions falls short.

The Lions made the playoffs with a string of close wins. The Lions will exit with a close loss.

On a crisp fall night in front of a packed crowd at home, the Lions season ended at the hands of the Camdenton Lakers. The Lakers never trailed in the contest and survived a late surge to hold on the game and pull out a 26-24 victory.

The Lakers will now face Kirkwood on Saturday in the next round of the MSHSAA football playoffs. The Lions will now prepare for next season.

Zumwalt East trailed 23-6 in the fourth quarter before a furious rally pulled things closer. A pair of turnovers and a pair of touchdowns made it 23-18 with time winding down.

Camdenton scored field goal to extend it's lead to 26-18 with just under three minutes left in the game.

The Lions connected on a quick score, but failed on the two-point conversion to make things 26-24 in favor of the Lions.

As time wound down, that would be the final score, ending East's season.
