St. Peters Archery Range to Open for a Sneak Peek on Monday

Initially, 13 ground-level archer positions will be open. Later, elevated platforms and 3D targets will be available.

The archery range at Lakeside 370 Park in St. Peters will open on Monday, after flooding in the park delayed construction for about a month.

"We're so close to ready," said Vicki Phillips, director of park operations.

On Thursday, crews were putting the targets, which they hoped to have installed by Monday. The range is located on the east end of the park.

Initially, the range will have 13 ground-level archer positions with targets between 10 yards and 70 yard. By October, three additional targets with elevated platforms will be added, 3D targets will be available and shade structures will be in place.

During the sneak peek period, prices will be $1 for residents and $3 for non-residents. Once construction is complete, prices will be $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents. All archers will receive a paper target.

Funding for the archery range comes from Proposition P, which St. Peters voters approved with 68 percent of the vote. About $100,000 is budgeted for the project.

Some of the rules for the archery range:

  • The range will be open March through November from sunrise to sunset and December through February from 8 a.m. to sunset.
  • Anyone under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Shooting across lanes is strictly prohibited. Archers must shoot only at the target designated for that archer position.
  • Archers may use simple and compound bows only, no crossbows allowed.
  • Field tips may be used, no broadhead arrows allowed.
