Zumwalt South's Abbington Named to International Bowl Roster

Chase Abbington will suit up for Team USA in the fourth annual International Federation of American Football International Bowl.

For the second straight year Fort Zumwalt South's Chase Abbington will be donning the red white and blue. 

Abbington, a member of the 2012 of the USA Football Under-19 National Team for the IFAF World Championship, has been added to the roster for the 2013 International Bowl team. The University of Missouri commit will join his new teammates to compete in the fourth annual International Bowl set to take place the day before National Signing Day. The game will be played at 8 p.m. on Feb. 5 in Austin, Texas. 

Abbington will represent Team USA in the the International Bowl, an annual competition among members in the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). Team USA will take on the  IFAF World Team which will be made up of players age 19-and-under from outside the United States. The IFAF is composed of 64 countries spanning six continents. 

The 2013 version of the International Bowl will be take place at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Austin. Both teams will field a roster of 45 players.

Abbington is a headliner on Team USA. Following his junior season, Abbington was on the United States team that took second at the World Championships. After that, Abbington took the field this fall for the Bulldogs. He rushed 158 times for 939 yards and 12 touchdowns this year. He also had 142 yards receiving and a score and a touchdown pass. On defense, Abbington also recorded 49 tackles, including for loss and a fumble recovery. His play earned him a spot on the All-State team.

Abbington is verbally committed to play at Missouri.
