Swimmers can sign up at the St. Peters Rec-Plex to compete in the outdoor swim season.
Registration for the outdoor pool season in St. Peters is underway at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. Swim teams will be forming for kids ages 6-18 in St. Peters. Teams are available for all three outdoor pools—Laurel Park, Nob Hill and Golf & Recreation Center. Teams will compete in weekly meets against other teams in the St. Charles County Summer Swim League. The St. Peters Rec-Plex registration desk is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday to Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. St. Peters resident rates are $80 for the first child, $66 for a second child, and $60 for each additional child. Teams will play nine games in four days at the Family Arena in St. Charles.
The Missouri Valley Conference will hold the women’s basketball tournament this week at the Family Arena. The seedings for the tournament are as follows: The first game Thursday will put Missouri State playing against Drake at 4:05 p.m., followed by Evansville and Southern Illinois. Four games are scheduled for Friday. The opening game has the Missouri State/Drake winner taking on Wichita State at 12:05 p.m. That game will be followed by Northern Iowa against Indiana State. Creighton plays the Evansville/Southern Illinois winner, and the last game Friday has Illinois State taking on Bradley. The St. Louis Senior Olympics, the regional competition for athletes aged 50 and older, is actively seeking applications for athletes to participate in more than 90 individual and team events over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23 – 28, 2013. From basketball to bocce; soccer, softball and shuffleboard; to tap dancing, tennis and track – the Senior Olympics engage more than 1,100 athletes and hundreds of volunteers at twelve different venues across the St. Louis area. Bradley, a graduate of Francis Howell Central, is 21-10 this season and has helped fueld the Tigers to a No. 6 NCNAA ranking heading into the final stretch of the season. February 6 is the first day high school seniors can confirm their college choices. The University of Missouri, Ohio State and Oklahoma State are among the NCAA schools looking to St. Louis for recruits.
