Last Chance: St. Peters Hosting Cinnco de Mayo Golf Tourney

This week's last chance has an art show accepting submissions, outdoor swim season starting soon and a golf tournament.

Registration is now open for the Cinco de Mayo Shoot-Out golf tournament on Saturday, May 5. The event is open a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at the St. Peters Golf Course. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top places in multiple flights, plus there will be closest to the pin and longest drive contests. The fee is $45 per player and covers golf, a cart and lunch. The tournament offers an optional cash skins game for $40 per team. Last Chance: Call for Entries “Beyond the Brush” Art Show and Competition

This week's last chance has an art show accepting submissions, outdoor swim season starting soon and a golf scramble.

The St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre is looking “Beyond the Brush” from June 8 to Aug. 13.  The art show and competition encourages artists to look past the classic paint brush and onto other tools such as palette knives, fingers, etc. to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind works. Paintbrushes are allowed, however, other tools must also be incorporated into the piece. The show is open to both youth and adult, amateur and professional artists. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of Painting/Drawing and Mixed Media/Sculpture.  Photography will not be accepted. The cost to enter as an Arts Centre member is $15 for up for to four pieces. Painting Invitational Shows Come to SCC

St. Charles Community College will host artwork beginning Jan. 31.

A free painting invitational will be coming to St. Charles Community College alter this month. At the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the campus of the college, the public will be able to artwork by several artists. Beginning on Jan. 31 and running until March 4, artwork from Daven Anderson, Deborah Douglas, Ron Flier, Elizabeth Parris, Robin Street-Morris and David M. Yates will be on display for the public. "These artists explore a variety of painting techniques combined with a wide array of conceptual approaches," said Christine Holtz, SCC adjunct instructor and gallery coordinator in a press release. Cultural Arts Centre a Hive of Activity as First Show Nears

Newly-opened Cultural Arts Centre takes art for first City Hall showcase.

The walls are bare and the display cases are empty at the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre, but that won't be the case much longer. After leaving behind its offices on St. Peters Howell Road, the Arts Centre officially opened up shop inside City Hall on Monday. Cultural Arts Centre art leader Cindy DuBois said she is excited to be in the new location in the west wing of City Hall, but there is one small problem—a lack of art on the walls. Tuesday that began to change. Artists brought over paintings and other artwork to the Centre. The art will be hung and displayed this week and be showcased this Friday.
