Viewfinder: St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre Comfortable in New Home

Nearly two months after moving into City Hall, the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre is a bustling hive of activity.

Back in January the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre moved into City Hall. Empty walls and display cases greeted the workers at the Centre back in January. Now it's a different story. Walls throughout the building are covered in art. Paintings and portraits from an early January show still remain. Displays cases are full and the renovated theatre, which is showing "You Can't Take It With You" this weekend, is ready to go.  Nearly two months later, the Arts Centre has been transformed. The Arts Centre is open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Centre is closed on Sunday.

The Centre will move to a larger facility inside the St. Peters City Hall, which is located off of Mexico Road at 1 St. Peters Centre Blvd. The Art Centre's new home will be in City Hall's west wing. "The new location will provide amazing exposure to the arts," said Cindy DuBois, the Cultural Arts Centre art leader. DuBois said the Centre has come a long way since it first began twenty years ago in the old City Hall building on Mexico Road in St. Peters. The move to the new location will  give the Centre more space, and the site has been completely renovated. "There will be new art rooms, more gallery space, a performing arts theater with a …
