MoDOT hopes to open the bridge in Mid-August, three months ahead of the original schedule.
The Blanchette Bridge project is progressing ahead of schedule. On Friday morning Missouri Department of Transportation District Engineer Ed Hassinger and St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith said Friday morning that the project could be finished three months ahead of schedule. When the westbound bridge was closed November 2, 2012, plans called for the shutdown to last for a maximum of one year. However Hassinger said MoDOT is pushing to open the bridge annual Festival of the Little Hills in mid-August. If MoDOT hits that goal, the project would be done three months ahead of the original schedule. MoDOT will doing pavement repairs at Route 79 and re-striping on the Blanchette Bridge.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will be busy on Monday in St. Charles County. MoDOT will close the far right lane of eastbound Interstate 70 near Route 79 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29 for pavement repairs, weather permitting. The lane closure will begin just east of Route 79. The entrance ramp from Route 79 to eastbound I-70 will also be closed. Northbound Route 79 motorists are advised to follow the message boards and use the north outer road to detour and access eastbound I-70. Closer to St. Louis, MoDOT will close multiple lanes in each direction on Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday. The following information was provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation One additional lane on westbound and then eastbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge will be closed on Tuesday, April 2 for maintenance work. The westbound lane closure will start at 9 a.m. When crews complete the pavement repairs westbound, they will close one lane in the eastbound direction. The work should be complete by noon. Motorists are advised to use Route 370 or Route 364 as alternate Missouri River crossings. The additional lane reduction will leave only two lanes open for traffic. Motorists are advised to slow down in the work zone and obey the posted 45 mph speed limit.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will close two lanes on westbound Interstate 70 at 11 p.m. Friday.
Drivers heading west on the Blanchette Bridge late Friday night should be aware of lane closures planned between 11 p.m. on March 29 and 8 a.m. on March 30. The Missouri Department of Transportation will have just one westbound lane open and will also close the exit to southbound Fifth Street during that time, according to a press release. Alternate routes include Highway 370 or Interstate 364. The northbound Fifth Street exit will remain open, so motorists heading south can exit there and turn around.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, most drivers have adapted to the lane closures five months into the year-long project, but speeding is an issue.
Most commuters are used to the lane closures on the Blanchette Bridge five months into the year-long reconstruction project. But the recent activity from construction crews putting up the new steel truss has led to some rear-end accidents in the area, said Linda Horn Wilson, spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Transportation. "Most of the crashes we're having are rear-end crashes," Horn Wilson said. "Some of it is people driving too fast, crashing into the car in front of them. The other issue is, since steel is going up, people are looking and are hitting the car that's slowed or stopped in front of them." One lane on westbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge will be closed from 2:30 p.m. through evening rush hour on Jan. 31 for emergency repairs to a broken drain grate, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. Motorists are advised to avoid westbound I-70 for evening rush and use Route 370 or Route 364 as alternate Missouri River crossings. More lane closures are coming to the Blanchette Bridge. Missouri Department of Transportation crews will be shutting down one lane on eastbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Bridge on Thursday to fix some potholes and other minor issues. The lane will be closed from 10 a.m. to noon, weather permitting. The lane closure will reduce the drive-able lanes on the bridge from three to two. Both directions of the bridge have already been reduced from five lanes as part of the bridge rehabilitation project. MoDOT suggests taking an alternate route Saturday, Jan. 19 while an additional lane of westbound I-70 on the Blanchette Bridge is closed for repairs. MoDOT plans to close the right-hand lane from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. so that they can fill potholes and make minor repairs. The closure leaves only two lanes open on westbound I-70 over the Missouri River. Motorists may take I-370 or I-364 (the Page Extension) as an alternate.
