Three candidates filed to run for open seats on the St. Charles Community College (SCC) Board of Trustees on the first day of election filing Tuesday. Candidate filing began Dec. 13 and continues until Jan. 17. SCC has two six-year terms and one two-year term up for election on the April 2012 ballot. Both William R. Pundmann and Jean Ehlmann's terms end in April. William Lohmar, who was appointed to the SCC Board of Trustees in January 2011, replaced his son, Timothy Lohmar, who was elected as a judge in Missouri’s 11th Judicial Circuit. Lohmar’s appointment ends in April 2012, and a candidate is needed to fulfill the remaining two years of Timothy Lohmar’s term. The St. Charles Community College (SCC) Board of Trustees approved the filing dates for the April 3, 2012 election at its Monday night meeting. Two six-year terms and one two-year term on the SCC Board of Trustees are on the ballot. The terms up for election are currently held by: Six-Year Terms Two-Year Term SCC Board of Trustees Candidate Requirements: Interested candidates must file between Dec. 13 and Jan. 17 at the Office of the President, Room 2104, Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Building at St. Charles Community College, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. in Cottleville. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Filings will not be accepted on Thursday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 3 or Monday, Jan. 16.

Ronald Chesbrough attended his first board meeting as president of St. Charles Community College Monday night.
The room was the same, the agenda was just as lengthy, but there was someone new who sat at the front table Monday night with the St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees. The new face was Ronald Chesbrough, who attended his first board meeting as the new president of the college. Chesbrough, 54, was selected by the board on Aug. 27 to become thethird president of the college in its 25-year history. Chesbrough started on Oct. 3 and spent two weeks with retiring president John N. McGuire to provide for a smooth leadership transition, college officials said. Kisker Road Library Branch Manager Keri Cascio resigns. The board discusses more specific guidelines on public comments during meetings.
At Monday night’s St. Charles County Library Board meeting, the board announced Kisker Road Library Branch Manager Keri Cascio’s resignation. Cascio has accepted a job as a Director of Innovative Technologies and Library Resource Management at Linda Hall Library in Kansas City, MO. The library specializes in media on science, engineering, and technology. Cascio has been the branch manager at Kisker for the last three years. She is also serving a two-year term on the executive board for the Missouri Library Association. Before becoming the Kisker Road Library branch manager, Cascio worked as a librarian for St. Louis Public Library and as a library assistant for St. Louis County libraries. On Monday, the board heard a presentation on accreditation in preparation for a November visit from the Higher Learning Commission.
The St. Charles Community College (SCC) Board of Trustees discussed an upcoming site evaluation by representatives from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accrediting agency at Monday night's regular meeting. An upcoming November site visit and comprehensive evaluation by the HLC accrediting agency prompted a presentation to the board by Dr. Barbara Keim, vice president for technology, research and planning. The commission is responsible for accrediting institutions of higher education throughout 19 Midwestern states, she said, and is one of six such organizations nationwide. New regulations bring district in line with state statutes.
The St. Charles City-County Library District Board of Trustees voted Monday night to change the way it handles the personal information of library patrons. The board voted to change the district's policy on publicly accessible reserves. Currently the information is searchable via the patron's last name. The library will now use a combination of library card numbers with letters from the patron's first and last name. Each patron will be given their specific identification information, but it won't be obvious to others at the self-pickup reserve desks who held the book in reserve. The library will move immediately toward changing circulation software and book wrappers with the goal of having all the changes made by July 1 at all branches. …

Board of Trustees approves guidelines to help search for new president of St. Charles Community College.
As St. Charles Community College searches for its new President, the College's Board of Trustees approved a presidential profile that was assist in the search for a president. According to William R. Pundmann, president of the SCC Board of Trustees and chair of the Presidential Search Committee, the Board approved the profile at its meeting on Monday, Jan. 24. SCC is searching for the third president in school history. John McGuire, the current president, announced in 2010 that he will retire in September of 2011. "The presidential profile is a key tool that assists the search committee in identifying the skills, education, experience, and other qualities required of the new president," Pundmann said in a press release.
