Ruth Thimmig, 91, died after being in a car crash on Saturday in St. Peters.
An elderly woman died Saturday afternoon in a car crash on Williott Road and Crescent Hills in St. Peters. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Ruth Thimmig, 91, died following the crash just after 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Post-Dispatch reports details of the crash are sketchy. The Post-Dispatch report said Thimmig was a passenger in a Chevrolet. That car collided with a Honda after the Honda crossed the center line. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to an area hospital in an unknown condition. The Honda driver, 42, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Post-Dispatch reports an accident re-constructionist is assisting St. Peters Police in their investigation of the fatal crash.

A 53-year-old woman died after she lost control on icy patch of the highway. Paramedics found the woman dead on the road about 30 feet from the vehicle. She appeared to have suffered severe head injuries.
Update: The driver in the crash has been identified. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver was Gwendolyn F. Hopson, 53, of Florissant. Hopsonwas pronounced dead at 7:03 a.m. after the crash. Previous story: A woman was killed after being thrown from her vehicle in an early-morning crash on Highway 364 in St. Charles County. According to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a 53-year-old woman lost control on icy patch of the highway. Nicholas Jones was unharmed in a two-vehicle crash on Friday night.
A St. Peters man escaped injury after being involved in a collision on Interstate 70 last week. Nicholas Jones, 22, was involved in a two-vehicle crash just after 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12. According the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jones was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 in lane three. Another vehicle, a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire driven by 17-year-old Alexia Denson, of St. Louis, was entering I-70 from Cypress Road. Denson changed lanes to the left and the left side of her vehicle struck the front right of Jones' 2008 GMC Box Truck. Neither driver was injured in the crash, however, a 12-year-old passenger in Denson's car was taken to DePaul Hospital with minor injuries. Denson's car sustained moderate damage in the crash. Jones…

A Godfrey, Ill. man is in serious condition after a collision with a semi-truck driven by a St. Peters resident on Tuesday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol , 22-year-old Joseph Schwank was driving north on U.S. 67 just south of Missouri 94 just before 10:30 a.m. The Highway Patrol said Schwank was going too fast for the road conditions and the front of his vehicle struck the rear of a semi-truck driven by Joseph Theis, 34, of St. Peters . The crash report says Schwank's 2005 Lincoln LS hit the towed unit of the truck, totaling out Schwank's car. Arch Helicopter took him to Barnes Jewish Hospital and his injuries are listed as serious. Theis sustained no injuries in the crash.

Rain-slicked roads are being blamed for a crash involving two St. Peters residents. On Sept. 6, Roy and Loreda Yewell, both 70, of St. Peters, were traveling on Interstate 44 five miles east of Cuba, Mo. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Roy Yewell was driving eastbound and lost control of his 2007 Dodge Ram truck on the wet roadway. The truck ran off the road and struck a tree, extensively damaging the vehicle. Roy and Loreda were both transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Mo., with moderate injuries. Roy was not wearing his safety device in the crash, but Loreda was.

A St. Peters man sustained minor injuries following a collision with another St. Peters driver during the Labor Day Weekend. Robertson Ambulance took to Ronald L. Gidden, 57, to DePaul Hospital just after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, with what the Missouri State Highway Patrol said were minor injuries. Gidden was injured after a collision on Missouri Route 370 at the Earth City Expressway. According to the crash report , a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 25-year-old St. Peters resident Samantha R. Barbour was traveling eastbound on 370. Gidden's2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle were parked in the left shoulder. A St. Peters teen was among five injured in a one-vehicle crash on south outer road 364, just east of Harvester Road. Ali Brown, 16, of St. Peters, was one of the five passengers in a 2003 Saturn L300 that crashed just after 7 p.m. on Monday night. According the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the car, driven by 21-year-old St. Charles resident Tariq Eddington, was traveling eastbound on the south outer road. Eddington swerved to the left, forcing the car to travel off the roadway. The car then made its way onto eastbound Route 364 and crossed all lanes of traffic before striking a concrete median. Christopher Cook sustained minor injuries in a traffic crash on Interstate 70 in St. Peters.
A St. Charles man was injured in a traffic collision last Wednesday in St. Peters . Christopher Cook, 43, sustained minor injuries after being involved in a crash on Aug. 15 on Interstate 70 just east of Mid Rivers Mall Drive. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report , Cook was traveling eastbound on I-70 when another driver, 26-year-old Florissant resident Joel Herr, changed lanes. Herr's semi-truck struck the side of Cook's 1993 Honda Civic. The impact caused minor damage to Herr's 2007 International Truck Tractor and extensive damage to Cook's vehicle. St. Charles County Ambulance took Cook to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries.

Charles W. Haffter Jr., 44, of St. Peters, is one of two men who died after being involved in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning.
Two Missouri residents, including a man from St. Peters, are dead following a crash in Iowa early Tuesday morning. Charles W. Haffter Jr., 44, of St. Peters, and 47-year-old St. Louis resident Tony R. Penberthy died after being involved in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck just after 1 a.m. on Highway 63 in Iowa. According to the Iowa State Patrol report, a semi truck driven by 58-year-old Auburndale, FL, resident Steven W. Searls, rear-ending a vehicle driving in the same lane at a speed slower than the posted speed limit. The second car, a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire, was driven Robert Lindsey, 50, of O'Fallon. St. Peters resident Dan Belter, 62, was involved in a car crash on July 27.
A St. Peters man avoided injury in a July 27, two-car crash on Highway 94. Dan Belter, 62, was involved in the crash around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 27. According to the crash report, 28-year-old St. Charles resident Kelli Boennighausen traveled through a red traffic signal on Highway 94 at Portwest Drive. The front of Belters' 2011 Mercury Police Interceptor struck the right rear of Boennighausen's 2003 Toyota Corolla. The impact of the collision caused Boennighausen's vehicle to slide and strike a light pole. The number of people speeding and weaving through traffic on the Page Extension is amazing. Add to that the slip ramps with obstructed views of oncoming traffic and people having limited space to move over 2-3 lanes and I'm surprised more people haven't been killed already.   more ›
