Pieces of broken glass littered passenger waiting areas Saturday at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport's Concourse C following a devastating storm. Numerous workers could be seen rebuilding during a media tour of the facility. During the tour, Mayor Francis Slay told St. Louis Patch he doesn't know the number of St. Louis City employees who had been dispatched to help in storm-ravaged parts of the county. But he said that the two governments are working together and that he has personally reached out to St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley. A possible tornado ripped through New Melle and unincorporated St. Charles County near Wentzville Friday night, but the larger cities mostly avoided major damage. The storm started around 6:30 p.m. last night. A first system passed through the area before a larger and more damaging system came through at 7:40 p.m. New Melle, MO got hit with what is believed to be a tornado. Damaging hail also was reported throughout the area. According to St. Charles County Red Cross, about 20 homes north of New Melle in south St. Charles County were damaged by a possible tornado or straightline winds Friday night. Powerful storms came ripping through the St. Louis area early Friday night, but left St. Peters mostly unscathed. Despite reports of damage in St. Charles County and St. Louis County, St. Peters apppears to have survived the storm without reports of major damage. Some limbs were ripped from tree by the high winds, but the damage appears minimal.
