St. Peters police will be accepting unused medicine April 27 at the Justice Center and Walgreens.
If you’ve ever wondered how to get rid of old medicines you don’t need anymore, now you have an easy option. St. Peters police will be accepting prescription and over-the-counter drugs at the St. Peters Justice Center and, new this year, at second location, Walgreens. The pick up will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 27. The public can bring medications—no questions asked—to the Justice Center lobby during this time as part of the National Rx Take Back Event. The Justice Center is at the corner of Grand Teton Drive and Suemandy Drive near Mid Rivers Mall. Walgreens, 1305 Jungermann Rd. is at the intersection of Jungermann and McClay Roads. An officer was attempting to handcuff the man at the St. Peters Justice Center when he began resisting, according to a police report.
A St. Charles man faces assault charges for spitting on and attempting to punch a St. Peters police officer Sunday. Kyle Friesenhahn, 25, of the 1000 block of Pine Street in St. Charles, was charged Wednesday with assaulting a law enforcement officer. St. Peters Police said an officer was trying to handcuff Friesenhahn Sunday at the St. Peters Justice Center, 1020 Grand Teton Drive. Friesenhahn attempted to strike the officer twice and started spitting at officers, police said. Friesenhahn posted a $25,000 bond Monday and was released from jail. The St. Peters Board of Aldermen will meet for a work session at 5 p.m. and a meeting at 7 p.m.
A short voting agenda will greet the St. Peters Board of Aldermen as the return to the Justice Center for the first meeting of 2013. After back-to-back months of just one meeting, the board gets back to its two-a-month program on Thursday night. As usual, the board will have a work session at 5 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday's work session will feature several items up for discussion. The board will get an update on the I-70 Shoppers Fair CPD, which was recently discussed at the January meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission. The St. Peters Commission re-re-approved a site plan for the bank.
The St. Peters Planning and Zoning Commission closed out the 2012 year with it's final meeting on Wednesday night. One group was making a return appearance in front of the commission. Fifth Third Bank returned to the Justice Center hoping the third time would be the charm. The bank, first came to the St. Peters Planning and Zoning Commission in the first meeting of 2011 to get approval of a site plan for a new location located south of the existing Walgreens on Mid Rivers Mall Drive on the same area as the new Goodwill store. After construction didn't begin for a year, the bank returned in the last meeting of 2011 to have its site plan re-approved. A potential new committee, a proposed tax abatement and a discussion of proposed one-way roads are just a few of the items awaiting discussion at Thursday's St. Board of Aldermen meeting. The meaty agenda is not surprising for November's lone meeting—this month is just one four in which the board eschews its regular twice-monthly meeting schedule in favor of a one-meeting approach. The board figures to be at its busiest during the 5 p.m. work session. On the work session agenda, the board will be figuring out if a new committee is needed. Aldermen will have a special meeting at 4:45 p.m., a work session at 5 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7 p.m.
Thursday night will be a triple-header for the St. Peters Board of Aldermen at the Justice Center. In addition to the usual combo of work session and regular meeting, the board will have a special meeting to replace the recently resigned Gus Elliott. At 4:45 p.m. Mayor Len Pagano and the board will meet to approve or deny the appointment of Terri Violet for the vacant Ward 3 seat. Board of Aldermen work session begins at 5 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.
After being presented a slew of potential city code changes at the first meeting of February, the St. Peters Board of Aldermen will vote to make the changes official on Thursday. meeting agenda tackle changes to city code. Most of the proposed changes are just updates to the city code reflecting updates to Missouri codes. One item, however, is because of February's election. The Board will vote on the fate on of the hotel tax passed earlier this month. After voters approved a 2 percent tax, the Board will decide if the city should enact the hotel tax.
