Fourth of July Fireworks: Where's the Best Place to Watch the Show?

Fireworks will be popping on the Fourth, but where exactly is the best place to watch them?

The Fourth of July means a lot of different things to a lot of people. It's the birthday of the old U S of A, it's a day off work, it's a day to barbecue and, of course, it's a day for fireworks.  When the sun goes down, the real show begins. Fireworks and the Fourth are a tradition that goes together like peanut butter and jelly.  While firework shows around the area are being called off because of fire concerns, St. Charles County has made it through relatively unscathed. St. Charles, O'Fallon, Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis all have plans to light up the night sky during the Fourth.  Growing up, I spent most of my Independence Days visiting my grandparents in Arkansas. Who's St. Charles County's Favorite Athlete? Find Out Next Week!

Show your school spirit by voting for your school's Patch Athlete of the Week beginning next week!

Prep sports? Yeah, St. Charles County has plenty of that! In fact, the area boasts some of the best and brightest athletes in the state. And beginning next week—Monday morning, to be exact—St. Charles County Patch sites will introduce a new feature where you can vote for who's best! Each week, one high school athlete from each of our Patch sites—Lake Saint Louis Patch;O'Fallon Patch; St. Charles Patch; St. Peters Patch; and Wentzville Patch—will be nominated for the honor. Romney Wins Big in Florida; Who Has Your Presidential Vote?

St. Charles County Patch sites are polling its readers on a weekly basis to gauge their interest in the election, its candidates and what issues are most important to them.

After three GOP presidential candidates claimed victories in the country's first three presidential primaries and caucuses, Mitt Romney once again stepped up to claim his front-runner status with a convincing victory in Florida. Romney garnered 46 percent of the vote, according to Patch, while Newt Gingrich received 32 percent. Rick Santorum, who visited St. Charles Community College Monday, received 13 percent of the vote and Ron Paul got 7 percent to round out the voting. From CNN: The victory gave Romney all 50 of Florida's convention delegates, and more importantly, new momentum heading into a series of caucuses and primaries in the next month building up to Super Tuesday on March 6, when 10 states will hold nominating contests. The Best Place to Get a Breakfast Sandwich in St. Charles County is ...

Lady Di's Diner in St. Charles has come out on top in our latest Chowdown Showdown.

The votes have been cast and we have a winner in our breakfast sandwich challenge.  After all the nominees and the voting, Lady Di's Diner in St. Charles has come out on top.  In an extremely close vote, Lady Di's Diner in St. Charles picked up one more vote than second-place Schnucks to claim the victory.  Here's how the voting broke down.  Thanks to everyone who voted and who nominated.  Disagree with the votes?
