Police: Man Caught Stealing Liquor From St. Peters Walmart Had Drug Items

The University City man pleaded not guilty at a Jan. 16 hearing.

A St. Louis County man faces criminal charges after being caught stealing liquor from the St. Peters Walmart. Allen C. Douthit, 32, of the 7000 block of Julian Avenue in University City, was charged Jan. 10 with misdemeanor stealing and possession of drug-related items. St. Peters Police said Douthit stole two bottles of liquor from Walmart, 1661 Jungermann Road in St. Peters. The liquor was valued at $53.11. Police said Douthit also had syringes, a spoon, a razor blade and half a soda can, all used to inject heroin. Douthit pleaded not guilty at a Jan. 16 hearing. Bail was set at $1,000, cash only. No Service: St. Peters Aldermen Says No to Craft Beer Bar

Board of Aldermen vote 7-0 to deny special use permit for Exit 6 Pub and Brewery.

Exit 6 Pub and Brewery will not be coming to St. Peters. Jeff Britton, owner of Exit 6, petitioned for a special use permit to open an upscale craft beer bar in the Promenade Center on the south side of Mexico Road and east of Devondale Place. The bar’s planned location placed it within 200 feet of Mid Rivers Elementary—something that didn’t sit well with parents and the Board of Aldermen. By a 7-0 vote (Alderman Dave Thomas, Ward 1, abstained) the Board voted to deny Britton’s special use permit. “I’m not very happy with the way things went,” Britton said. “I don’t understand why they charged me $250 [in fees] plus another $700 in mailings only to come here and get completely shutout.” Britton had cleared every hurdle prior to Thursday’s …

I hands down agree with this. Strip malls are eye sores. St peters is actually a very nice place to live, but would be am incredible place if they would zone an area for some nice unique one of a kind restaurants/bars with some shopping and a park. Kind of like a mini downtown St. Charles or like downtown kirkwood. How many strip malls, chain restaurants, and medical centers do we need?   more ›
