Six Zumwalt South Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent

Six Bulldog seniors will be continuing their sports careers in college.

Six Fort Zumwalt South athletes recently signed National Letters of Intent to keep playing sports beyond high school. Tim Heimann has signed to join the bowling team at Lindenwood University-Belleville. Tim is pictured with his parents Karen and Paul Heimann. Pictured behind FZS Athletic Director Mike O'Brien. Brooke Hendrix has signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer at William Woods University. National Signing Day: Ezekiel Elliott Signs Letter Of Intent With Ohio State Buckeyes

February 6 is the first day high school seniors can confirm their college choices. The University of Missouri, Ohio State and Oklahoma State are among the NCAA schools looking to St. Louis for recruits.

College coaches are getting their money's worth out of fax machines today. This is the first day high school seniors playing Football, Baseball Field Hockey, Soccer, Track and Field, Cross Country, Men's Water Polo can submit a signed letter of intent to play at the college level. Ezekiel Elliott, the John Burroughs running back who gave a verbal pledge to the Ohio State Buckeyes last spring, confirmed that decision late Wednesday afternoon in an announcement that was also carried on live local television. Signing Day Comes and Goes for Mizzou

Locally, not many kids are heading to Columbia. Will that be the case next year, too?

Wednesday, Feb. 2, was signing day for student athletes that are planning to play NCAA football. Meaning, that is, that it was the first day that the kids could sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) declaring their intention to attend and play football at a specific school. If you’re unsure about what exactly an NIL is, click here. OK, are you back? Great.  For the Missouri Tigers, it was a pretty good day overall. A total of 17 kids committed to go to Columbia to play football, and on Wednesday morning rivals.com had the class rated as 28th-best with regard to average stars of its signees.
