MoDOT Unveils 2013 St. Louis Area Road Construction Projects

The projects cost nearly $211 million and will include road and lane closures around the St. Louis area that begin next week.

The Missouri Department of Transportaion has a busy year planned for road construction in the St. Louis area. Tuesday, MoDOT officials unveiled detailed plans for five major projects around the St. Louis area in 2013 that total nearly $211 million.  "So it's a significant amount of money we're about to spend on roads around the state, around the region," explained Ed Hassinger, MoDOT District Engineer for the St. Louis region. Details for another project along Interstate 70 in St. Peters at Mid Rivers Mall Drive will come later this year. Drivers: Avoid Blanchette Bridge Construction Traffic, Find New Routes

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is encouraging drivers to find alternate routes to avoid traffic delays during the 12-month construction of the Blanchette Bridge.

Drivers may want to find alternate routes to avoid traffic delays during the upcoming 12-month construction of the Blanchette Bridge. In two weeks, crews will begin repair work closing the westbound lanes of the bridge. Starting that first weekend of November, westbound I-70 traffic will be detoured to the eastbound I-70 bridge lanes for 12 months, with three lanes for eastbound and three lanes for westbound traffic. Immediately off the end of the bridge, there will be pavement in the median to move the three westbound lanes back over to the normal westbound pavement. The entire bridge and parts of I-70 will be closed for an hour during bridge blasts on three different days in November and early December.  MoDOT suggests drivers flex work …

Afternoon Blasts & I-270 Road Closure Canceled

The next closure of I-270 will be Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has just canceled the 1:30 p.m. rock blasting that was scheduled on Interstate 270 Tuesday. The blasting would have shut down northbound and southbound I-270 between Manchester and Big Bend roads. (Read Previous Story: Blasting on I-270 Begins Tuesday, Interstate Will Shut Down) MoDOT states in a news alert, that the Tuesday afternoon blast is canceled and the next closure is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m.  MoDOT crews are evaluating Tuesday morning's closure and will make any necessary adjustments for upcoming blasting times. MoDOT Warns Drivers to Pay Attention

MoDOT kicked off Work Zone Awareness Week Monday, and it's warning drivers to watch for road crews.

With spring and summer, comes peak season for road construction and travel, a combination that can create deadly situations if drivers aren't on alert. Monday, the Missouri Department of Transportation kicked off Work Zone Awareness week, just three days after a fatal car crash in the MoDOT work zone on Interstate 270. According to investigators, one driver was killed early Friday morning when another driver tried to change lanes in the I-270 expansion project work zone between Manchester Road and Highway 44. MoDOT officials said drivers should expect shifting and narrowed lanes, nighttime lane closures and complete road closures during the road construction season. "It's road construction season. MoDOT to Close Robertridge Drive Access to Route 94 for Six Weeks

Road will be closed until late June.

As construction continues on Route 94 in St. Charles County, the Missouri Department of Transportation is closing more roads. MoDOT will shutdown access from Robertridge Drive to Route 94 on Monday, May 23, 2010 after the morning rush period. Crews will be connecting Robertridge to the new outer road.  Access from Robertridge to Route 94 is expected to remain closed until late June. Residents of the subdivisions off Robertridge can use Kisker Road to access Route 94 while the road is is closed. This shutdown is part of a $25.5 million project to extend Route 364 from west of Central School Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Charles County. MoDOT Announces More Road Work in St. Peters

Construction projects taking shape as weather heats up.

The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Fred Weber, Inc., will shift traffic on Kisker Road to recently completed pavement between Central School Road and Route 94, starting Tuesday, May 3, weather permitting. The existing one lane of traffic in each direction will move to the new pavement after morning rush period. On southbound Kisker Road, the roadway returns to two lanes in each direction just north of Route 94. Drivers will have one through lane and one left turn lane onto eastbound Route 94. Crews are rebuilding the section of Kisker Road north of Route 94 over the next several months. MoDOT to close access from Route 94 to Old Route 94 on March 21

The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the connection from Route 94 to Old Route 94, weather permitting, starting at 7 a.m. March 21, to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway as part of the Route 364 upgrade.

Roadwork continues in St. Peters as part of the Route 364 proejct. The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Fred Weber, Inc., will close the connection from Route 94 to Old Route 94, weather permitting, starting at 7 a.m. March 21, to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway as part of the Route 364 upgrade. Traffic will not be able to access Old Route 94 (the western end of Harvester Drive) from Route 94 or be able to access Route 94 from Old Route 94. Drivers will need to use Jungermann Road or the eastern interchange of Harvester Drive to access eastbound or westbound Route 94. MoDOT to Close Lanes on I-70 for Night Repair Work

Lanes on I-70 near Route K in St. Charles County will be closed for pavement repairs Monday and Tuesday nights, weather permitting.

The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, R.V. Wagner, will close lanes on I-70 near Route K in St. Charles County for pavement repairs Monday and Tuesday nights, weather permitting. Crews will close a lane on eastbound I-70 Monday, March 7, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 8. Crews will close one lane on westbound I-70 Tuesday, March 8 between 9p.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 9.
