Thanks to agreements with St. Charles County and the federal government, the city could resurface a portion of Williott Road and Mid Rivers Mall Drive for $108,000.
St. Peters could complete two million-dollar road resurfacing projects next summer for just $108,000. Russ Batzel, Transportation and Development Services Group Manager, presented plans to the Board of Aldermen during the May 9 meeting for two major road projects. The plans call for the city to resurface a portion of Mid Rivers Mall Drive and most of Willott Road in the summer of 2014. The projects, which would take place at the same time, carry a $2.4 million price tag. However, thanks to proposed deals with the federal government and St. Charles County, St. Peters would contribute just $108,000 to the projects. Mexico Road will undergo repairs on the right-hand eastbound lane at South Church Street on Wednesday. The project, being done by the city of St. Peters, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2013, weather permitting. Crews are slated to begin work at 7 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Eastbound Mexico Road will be reduced to one lane in this area during this concrete pavement repair. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the construction zone.

The annual road work projects will tackle a variety of projects around the city.
Construction season in St. Peters started earlier this year with work on the Mid Rivers Mall Drive overpass. That work, however, will not be the only road construction done this year in the city. The city will make nearly $2 million in repairs this year as part of the annual Pavement Management Program. The actual total, $1,949,000, will be spent on variety of projects including asphalt overlay, concrete slab replacements, curb repairs, joint and crack repairs and sidewalk maintenance. The city will be conducting projects in all four wards in 2013. Workers have started to relocate utilities at Mexico Road and Salt Lick Road as the city of St. Peters prepares for an improvement project at the intersection. AmerenUE, Laclede Gas, CenturyLink, Charter Communications and Missouri American Water will relocate their facilities in the intersection over the next 45 days. Drivers are asked to drive carefully through this intersection during utility work. Most work will take place weekdays after 7:30 a.m. and end before the afternoon rush hour. One lane of eastbound Interstate 70 will be shut down to allow MoDOT crews to repair potholes and other minor issues.
More lane closures are coming to the Blanchette Bridge. Missouri Department of Transportation crews will be shutting down one lane on eastbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Bridge on Thursday to fix some potholes and other minor issues. The lane will be closed from 10 a.m. to noon, weather permitting. The lane closure will reduce the drive-able lanes on the bridge from three to two. Both directions of the bridge have already been reduced from five lanes as part of the bridge rehabilitation project. The westbound bridge closed in early November and scheduled to be complete in fall 2013. Motorists are being asked to avoid eastbound 70 by taking Route 370 or Route 364 as alternate routes across the Missouri River. MoDOT is also advising …

St. Peters workers will be doing some work on Mid Rivers Mall Drive next week that will cause periodic lane closures. Crews will be replacing sewer tops on the heavily-trafficked road. The replacements will take place between McMenamy Drive and Interstate 70. Work is expected to start on Tuesday, Oct. 16, as long as the weather plays nice. City officials say the work could last a number of weeks. Road lanes will be closed as needed to complete this work.
