State Wars Roller Hockey Championships Begin Wednesday at St. Peters Rec-Plex

Game, which are free and open to the public, run from Aug. until Aug. 12.

Roller hockey teams from 26 states and four Canadian provinces will be heading to St. Peters to take place in State Wars 8.  The three ice rinks at the St. Peters Rec-Plex and Rec-Plex South have been re-purposed and transformed into roller hockey rinks for State Wars 8—the two-week roller hockey tournament that determines the United States Roller Hockey Championships. State Wars 8 begins at 7 a.m. on Aug. 1 and runs until Aug. 12, 2012.  A full schedule is attached.  Players from all over are selected to represent their home state or province to compete for a national title. The competition will take place in 18 different divisions with varying age groups, starting with players born in 2004 up to the over-35 division. A total of 280 teams…

Rec-Plex Spring Triathlon Set for June 17

Registration is underway for the event with early entrants getting a cheaper rate.

It's time, once again, for the St. Peters spring triathlon.  The St. Peters Rec-Plex is hosting its annual triathlon on Sunday, June 17, at 6 a.m. The Rec-Plex Spring Triathlon tests participants with a 500-meter serpentine swim in the Rec-Plex’s Natatorium, a 21-mile bicycle ride , and a 5-mile run through St. Peters parks. Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners as well as the top three teams and top individuals in each age group. Bike helmets are required for the biking portion of the event. All participants will receive complimentary food and fruit after the race. A lower rate is available to anyone who registers for the Rec-Plex Spring Triathlon by June 1. St. Peters Art Experience Camps Begin June 4

Registration is also still underway for Rec-Plex Summer Activities Camps

St. Peters Art Experience Camps at the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre will kick off with a drawing and painting from June 4 to  June 8. Kids ages 2 and up will learn to create Expressionism & Impressionism. Impressionist drawing and painting subjects will be ordinary objects painted with active brush strokes, emphasizing depiction of light, movement and a unique point of view. In contrast, expressionist focus is placed on the individual’s emotional view of the people and world around them. Works of expressionism are painted to evoke emotion as opposed to reflecting reality. Registration Underway for Rec-Plex Summer Activities Camps

This week's last chance has an art show accepting submissions and belly dancing classes.

The St. Peters Rec-Plex Summer Activities Camps are beginning May 21. The Activities Camps at the Rec-Plex provide a safe opportunity for kids ages 6 to 12 to spend time the during the summer. Under qualified supervision of personnel, kids will get to make friends, play games, go on field trips and enjoy swimming, diving, ice skating and more at the Rec-Plex. Rec-Plex Activities Camps run for 12 weeks until Aug. 10. Each session lasts one week. Camps will meet from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Rise and Shine and Sunsetters Camps are available before and after normal camp hours. The Rec-Plex also offers sports camps beginning with soccer and Rink Rats hockey on June 4. St. Peters Rec-Plex Skaters Win Winter Classic Title

For the second consecutive year the Rec-Plex won the ISI Winter Classic figure skating competition.

The figure skaters at the St. Peters Rec-Plex are now the back-to-back champs of the ISI Winter Classic figure skating competition. After winning the title last year in St. Peters, the skaters won the title in the event in Northbrook, IL, earlier in February.  The Rec-Plex skaters racked up an even 1,000 points at the 2012 ISI Winter Classic to bring home the Ice Skating Institute’s Robert Unger Overall Team Champion Trophy. Two Chicago area rinks—Niles Park District (638.5 points) and Northbrook Sports Center (619 points)—followed in second and third place. The ISI considers its ISI Winter Classic the nation’s biggest and best recreational ice skating competition. Skaters at the ISI Winter Classic can win medals and points, and the rink …

NAHL's St. Louis Bandits Set for Two Game at Rec-Plex

The Bandits will be playing games at the Rec-Plex South on back-to-back Friday's in March.

The St. Louis Bandits will soon be hitting the ice at the St. Peters Rec-Plex South. The Bandits, who play in the North American Hockey League, will be leaving their home ice in Chesterfield for two Friday's in March to play two games in St. Peters. In a game March 2, the Bandits will skate on the ice at the Rec-Plex South against the visiting Janesville Jets. The game begins at 7 p.m. A week late, on March 9, the Bandits will host the Topeka Roadrunners at 7 p.m. All of the action will take place at Rec-Plex South, located next to the original Rec-Plex building at 5200 Mexico Rd. Winter Wonderland on Ice Coming to Rec-Plex

Annual figure skating show will take place Dec. 9 and Dec. 9 at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.

Figure skaters will be hitting the ice at the St. Peters Rec-Plex for the annual Winter Wonderland on Ice show. Skaters from the Rec-Plex's ice skating school will perform holiday songs on the Rec-Plex ice. The show will have solo skating, synchronized skating and formation teams. Skaters of all skill levels will be hitting the ice for the show. Frosty the Snowman, and potentially Santa, will make an appearance.  The shows will be in main ice rink in the original Rec-Plex building. The show will have two performances. The first will take place on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m., while the second show wil go on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. Tickets will be on sale on starting Monday, Nov. 28, at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.
