A Wright City man connected to a teen who went missing in January was indicted on several charges for having sex with a 16-year-old girl. A St. Charles County grand jury on Friday indicted Benjamin Kinkade, 27, on second-degree statutory rape, second-degree child molestation and first-degree trespassing. St. Peters Police searched for Kinkade after he and a 16-year-old girl disappeared on Jan. 14. The girl told her parents she was working a shift at KFC, but instead met with Kinkade. Kinkade and the girl met while working at KFC in St. Peters. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department found the girl nine days later after Kinkade’s relatives tipped them off. A Wright City man who disappeared along with a 16-year-old girl was charged Friday with second-degree statutory rape. The girl had been listed as an endangered juvenile. The two returned Jan. 23 when they ran out of money, according to a police report. St. Charles County Sheriff’s detectives said Benjamin Kinkade, 27, and the 16-year-old girl fled the state together Jan. 14 after her father dropped her off at work at Kentucky Fried Chicken in St. Peters. According to court documents, the Kinkade met the girl and the two went to Iowa and Nebraska. A St. Peters man pleaded guilty to six sex crimes Friday in St. Charles County Circuit Court. Jason Champion, 22, of the first block of Churchill Downs Drive in St. Peters, entered a guilty plea to two counts of sexual assault, two counts of second-degree statutory rape, and two counts of statutory sodomy. Circuit Court Judge Ted House sentenced Champion to seven years in prison on each count. The sentences will run concurrently. Prosecutors dismissed five charges against Champion: two counts of forcible rape, two counts of child molestation and one count of forcible sodomy.
