For a second time, the fate of Pandora Ink will be in the hands of the St. Peters Board of Aldermen. In August 2012, the tattoo establishment asked the board to consider an amendment to a Planned Urban Development to permit Pandora Ink, a tattoo parlor, to open up shop in the Dollar Tree Plaza. Pandora Ink was one of two tattoo shops on the agenda that night. One located along Spencer Road near Menards was approved. Pandora Ink failed to get the five votes needed to pass. On Thursday, Pandora Ink will be back again in front of the board. With the issue coming to the board, St. Peters Patch asked readers to weigh in on the tattoo issue. Pandora Ink is once again trying to open a tattoo shop in the Dollar Tree Plaza in St. Peters.
Pandora Ink just won't take no for an answer, especially if the no wasn't clear in the first place. The tattoo company was back at the Justice Center for the third time in less than six months and it's second time in front of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Just like in August, Pandora Ink was seeking an amendment to a Planned Urban Development (PUD) to permit a tattoo establishment to be located at on the north side of Mexico Road, east side of Grand Teton Drive in the Dollar Tree Plaza. And, just like in August, the commission recommended approval of the amendment to the Board of Aldermen. Now comes the hard part for Pandora Ink—gaining board approval. Two proposed tattoo shops in St. Peters were approved by the St. Peters Planning and Zoning Commission during the August meeting.
St. Peters’ August meeting of the Planning and Zoning committee was heavy on the tattoo ink. Two of the items on the agenda for the Aug. 1 meeting dealt with new tattoo shops wanting to open up in St. Peters. The commission welcomed both. First up was Robert Bayer, who requested a special use permit to open up a shop located on the west side of Spencer Road, north side of Executive Centre Parkway more commonly known as 94 Spencer Road. The store will be near the Costco and the future Menards. Bayer explained that his business would be open from noon until 9 p.m. at the latest. I'm the owner of Lucky's Tattoo Company in St. Charles, and I'm all for the city of St. Peters allowing tattooing in it's main business district. The only thing about this article I find upsetting is that someone decided to use a tattoo from my personal portfolio to represent this shop in the article. I wish the new shop well, but how about not using my artwork to establish their business in the … more ›
