Turkey Day is over—now what? Thanksgiving leftovers can become a blessing or a curse. Turkey sandwiches can be good for a while, but they get boring fast. Leftovers should begin with a plan. Pick recipes that are easy to make while creating a new dish that isn't immediately recognized as including leftovers. Food historian Suzanne Corbett offered some tasty ideas during last year's Thanksgiving holiday. Here are a few options: Turkey Croquettes Mix two parts of leftover dressing with one part finely chopped turkey. Moisten with beaten egg and a little milk, broth or leftover gravy. St. Peters has altered hours and a modified trash service schedule for the holiday.
Thanksgiving is Thursday and St. Peters has changed hours of operations to ensure city employees get time off. What's Closed? Just About Everything St. Peters City Hall and the Cultural Arts Centre will be closed Nov. 22 and Nov. 23. The St. Peters Rec-Plex will only be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Recycle City, including aluminum can buy-back and trash acceptance, will be closed on Thanksgiving. The Recycle City drop-off area, however, will stay open. Recycle City will also close early, at 4 p.m., on Friday and Saturday. The Earth Centre yard waste and composting facility will be closed on Thanksgiving and will close early at 4 p.m. on Friday. Midnight openings, tech-savvy toys for kids, and a preview of a few Black Friday deals.
This year’s shopping extravaganza will suit early birds and night owls alike. More stores are opening at midnight on the day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday by many retailers. Stores at Mid Rivers Mall, as well as Best Buy, Target and Kohl's will pull their doors open at midnight on Nov. 25. A few stores in Lake Saint Louis’s shopping center, The Meadows, will also be opening at midnight, including Aeropostale, Charming Charlie, Claire’s, Maurices and Victoria’s Secret. ST. LOUIS — To help people travel around Missouri this holiday weekend, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is restricting construction work on interstates and state highways. Work on all MoDOT construction projects that would impact travel lanes will stop at noon Wednesday. Traffic will still be restricted in areas where there are permanent barriers. Crews may continue to work on sections of roadway closed to the public (such as the Route 141 construction in St. Louis). If required, crews will also close lanes where needed for emergency maintenance. Work on construction projects will resume at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28.
