A man is accused of choking another man into unconsciousness Feb. 19 in the Harvester area, choked another man and then stole his ex-girlfriend’s car. Brooks Hoy, 21, whose address was listed in Columbia, was charged Feb. 19 with tampering with a car, two counts of third-degree assault, third-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest. A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy said Hoy was arguing with another man and choked him long enough that he went unconscious Feb. 19 in the 600 block of Emerald Meadows Court. A third man hit Hoy in the head with a baseball bat to make him let go, according to the report. The deputy said Hoy also choked another man, who was trying to make Hoy let go of the first man. A St. Peters man punched his wife and grabbed her nose, causing it to bleed on Feb. 10, police said. Stephan Surplus, 43, of the 1500 block of Athens Drive in St. Peters, was charged Feb. 10 with third-degree domestic assault. St. Peters Police said Surplus punched his wife in the arm twice, shoved her over and then grabbed her nose, causing a nosebleed. Officers reported that a witness said Surplus is an excessive alcohol drinker and uses cocaine. “The victim believes if he is released, he will return to the house and assault her again,” police wrote in a report. “The suspect appeared to be increasingly agitated at the prospect of being removed from the residence.” Surplus posted 10 percent of a $10,000 bond and was released Monday. A St. Peters man pleaded guilty to six sex crimes Friday in St. Charles County Circuit Court. Jason Champion, 22, of the first block of Churchill Downs Drive in St. Peters, entered a guilty plea to two counts of sexual assault, two counts of second-degree statutory rape, and two counts of statutory sodomy. Circuit Court Judge Ted House sentenced Champion to seven years in prison on each count. The sentences will run concurrently. Prosecutors dismissed five charges against Champion: two counts of forcible rape, two counts of child molestation and one count of forcible sodomy. Champion was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at a mutual friend's apartment. The victim told police the two weren't alone in the apartment, but Champion waited …

A man faces criminal charges after St. Peters Police said he assaulted his girlfriend Friday. Garrett A. Ash, 27, of the first block of Timberbrook Drive in St. Peters, was charged Monday with third-degree domestic assault. St. Peters Police said Ash pinned his girlfriend to the couch during an argument and began choking her. He later pinned her against the kitchen wall and wrestled with her in an upstairs bedroom to prevent her from getting her cell phone, police said. The woman had red marks on her neck, according to a police report. St. Peters Police said they believe Ash has assaulted the woman three other times. Police said a man drove his pickup truck into his front door while trying to run over his wife Oct. 1 in St. Peters. Timothy P. McMorris, 34, was charged Tuesday with third-degree domestic assault and second-degree child endangerment. St. Peters Police said McMorris pushed his wife out of his pickup truck, put the truck in reverse and tried to hit her with the truck. The woman ran into their house in the first block of Pilot Hill Court and grabbed the couple’s 9-year-old daughter just inside the doorway, police said. McMorris continued backing his truck up towards the woman and ran it into the front of the house, damaging the front entrance, according to the police report.
