Election results approved at April 28, 2011 Board of Aldermen meeting.
It’s official: the incumbents retained their seats in St. Peters. The results of the April 5 election were certified Thursday night at the St. Peters Board of Aldermen meeting. Municipal Judge Donald Kohl, and the four Aldermen—Dave Thomas (Ward 1), Judy Bateman (Ward 2), Gus Elliott (Ward 3) and Don Aytes (Ward 4)—were approved and sworn in to serve another term. The Planning and Zoning Commission balked at allowing city residents to raise chickens, but several aldermen sounded off to support the issue.
A new Chic-fil-A opened in St. Peters Thursday, but even the celebrated franchise was second in the pecking order to the city’s urban chicken discussion during the Board of Aldermen work session. Incumbents went four-for-four in Tuesday's election.
Dave Thomas has some ideas for what he’d like to accomplish in his second term as St. Peters Ward 1 Alderman, but first he’d like to sleep. Exhausted from weeks of campaigning and a late push to make sure he retained his seat on the Board of Aldermen, Thomas found out late Tuesday that the voters of St. Peters elected him for another four-year term on the Board. “I started having bags under my eyes last weekend,” Thomas said. “I realized I hadn’t been sleeping for the past week. … I’m grateful for all the support. I’m glad the election process is over and now I’m ready to get back to work and serve our residents.” In his first re-election bid, Thomas found out it’s good to be an incumbent. The April 14 meeting agenda won’t have to include …
