The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a meeting to discuss the schedule for phase 3 of the Route 364 Page Avenue Extension Project on March 26.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. March 26 at St. Charles Community College to answer questions about phase 3 of the Route 364 Page Avenue Construction project. MoDOT recently awarded the contract for the $118.2 million project. Construction on the final phase of the Route 364 extension project is expected to begin in May and be completed by Fall 2014. The Crews will build a four-lane highway between Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters and the Route N and Interstate 64 interchange in Lake Saint Louis. The ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as crews restripe the slip ramp as an exit only ramp. During the daytime closure, motorists can continue eastbound on Route 364, exit at Arena Parkway/Upper Bottom Road and turn around and go westbound on Route 364 to access eastbound Route 94. Underneath the new Central School Road overpass, the ribbon was cut early Thursday to symbolically open the second phase of the Route 364 project. Officials from St. Peters, St. Charles County, the Missouri Department of Transportation and representatives of both the state and federal governments convened to celebrate the opening of the second phase of the Page Avenue Extension. For many commuters in and around St. Peters, Thursday is a day they have been waiting for for quite some time. The Missouri Department of Transportation announced in July that the second phase of the Route 364 project will be ready for by late afternoon today—Thursday, Aug. 30. The opening date for the six-mile stretch from Harvester Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters is two months ahead of schedule. A St. Peters teen was among five injured in a one-vehicle crash on south outer road 364, just east of Harvester Road. Ali Brown, 16, of St. Peters, was one of the five passengers in a 2003 Saturn L300 that crashed just after 7 p.m. on Monday night. According the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the car, driven by 21-year-old St. Charles resident Tariq Eddington, was traveling eastbound on the south outer road. Eddington swerved to the left, forcing the car to travel off the roadway. The car then made its way onto eastbound Route 364 and crossed all lanes of traffic before striking a concrete median. Pavement replacement will last three weeks.
Just because the second phase of the Route 364 project will be finished at the end of August doesn't mean work will be done in the area. The Missouri Department of Transportation announced that it will close Jungermann Road underneath Route 364 for three weeks immediately following the Aug. 30 opening of the new Route 364 from Harvester Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive. The start date for the closure is Tuesday, Sept. 4. MoDOT's contractor needs to replace the pavement on Jungermann as part of the overall Route 364 project. The pavement replacement could not be done until after the new Route 364 opened to traffic. MoDOT will open the new bridge that will open up the access from the outer roads to Central School Road over the new Route 364.
MoDOT keeps bringing good news to St. Peters and St. Charles County drivers. After Thursday's announcement that the second phase of the Route 364 project extending the road from Jungermann Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive would open at the end August, the Missouri Department of Transportation let it be known that Central School Road over Route 364 will open at the end of July. Plans are to open the interchange to traffic sometime midday on Tuesday, July 31. The Cental School Road interchange has been under construction for the last year and, as the work was winding down, MoDOT limited access to the road. What in the world happened? Did you open it too early??? The traffic jam was ridiculous. It wasn't as bad when the new highway wasn't "open". Why would you close down 3 lanes on opening day? Very disappointing and a big waste of commuters time and fuel.   more ›
