White House Education Scorecard Profiles St. Peters-Area Colleges

New searchable database identifies how schools perform on cost, graduation and loan defaults. See how schools such as St. Charles Community College, Lindenwood University and Missouri Tech compare.

President Barack Obama used part of his State of The Union address Feb. 12 to promote the release of an education scorecard, a tool he said "parents and students can use to compare schools based on a simple criteria: where you can get the most bang for your educational buck." The College Scorecard was released the following day. It does not rank schools, like The Princeton Review or U.S. News & World Report. Instead, it provides information about cost, gradaution rate, loan default and median borrowing. When Is The State of the Union Address? What Will Obama Talk About?

President Barack Obama will give his annual State of the Union address tonight at 8 p.m. CST in front of members of the United States Congress. The speech will be aired on all major network television stations.

President Barack Obama will give his annual State of the Union address tonight at 8 p.m. CST in front of members of the United States Congress.  The address will be aired live on all major network television stations as well as the expected political cable channels.  You can also watch an enhanced livestream of the speech on The White House's website.  According to CNN, Obama will point out bipartisan progress on immigration reform but take ot to Republicans on debt and tax reform.  For more on what Obama is expected to say, read CNN. State of the Union: The White House Wants Us to Tune In Online

The State of the Union is going interactive, with an online-only "enhanced broadcast" of President Obama's remarks.

Do you watch the State of the Union? Millions of Americans do, although ratings for President Obama's 2011 address were down over the previous year. I confess that I mostly do not watch the SOTU, and it makes no difference whether the commander-in-chief is one for whom I voted. The SOTU is usually longer than it needs to be, and the constant ovations--with concurrent non-ovations by those who don't support the president--drive me to distraction. Still, I know it's important to hear what the President has to say about how he and the country are doing, so I don't avoid the SOTU altogether.
