Naked Man Breaks Into St. Charles County Home

A naked man damaged a garage door and forced open another door to break into a St. Charles County home at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday while the homeowner was present.

A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy reported that Joseph M. Mahoney, 24, was completely nude when he broke into the home in the 200 block of Willis Drive near St. Peters.

The deputy said Mahoney also damaged a garage door by hitting it with an unknown object.

Lt. Craig McGuire of the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department said Mahoney broke in through a back door and began pounding on the closed bedroom door where the resident was sleeping. The man got a shotgun, opened the door and kept Mahoney there until Sheriff’s deputies responded.

“When deputies arrived, (Mahoney) was incoherent and mumbling,” McGuire said. He said Mahoney, who did not know the resident,  was extremely drunk.

Mahoney, of the first block of Catamaran Drive in Lake Saint Louis,  was charged Wednesday with first-degree burglary, property damage and second-degree sexual misconduct.

Bail was set at $25,000, cash only for Mahoney.
