Celebrate St. Peters Kicks Off Friday at 370 Lakeside

The second annual event will feature rides, games and music.

The forecast for Friday and Saturday is largely devoid of rain and officials are hoping it stays that way. 

A year after a , the event is back in 2012 with a shorter schedule and new addition. The two-day Celebrate St. Peters event—a change from the three-day fest in 2011—kicks off Friday night from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m at in St. Peters. The event will resume on Saturday (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Saturday night (5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.).

This year at the annual party at the lake will be a variety of carnival rides and inflatables for kids of all ages to enjoy. The rides will take 2 to 3 tickets or attendees can purchase wristbands that will give the owner unlimited rides during each session: Friday night, Saturday matinee or Saturday night.

Saturday is being designated as family day at Celebrate St. Peters. The day will start with a family bike ride around the lake. The cost is $2 per person or $5 per family. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on the east parking lot. The route is approximately 4.5 miles around the lake.

Bass Pro Shops will offer free kids fishing at the lake from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Bass Pro Shops will provide bait and a limited number of fishing poles. Kids are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles.

Kids can learn do-it-yourself skills as they complete a project at Kid’s Workshop Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Simple tools, like a hammer or screwdriver, and some glue will be used to create a project. There is no charge for this event.

Joy Nack will bring her “Live Your Dreams” puppet show to the family stage Saturday afternoon, followed by a variety of music performed by the Patt Holt Singers in three different shows.

There will also be music at the event. The Smash Band will play a free show Friday night.

Celebrate St. Peters will come to a close on Saturday night when KSHE presents country rock legend Poco on the Main Stage beginning around 7:30 p.m. After a fireworks show around 9:15 p.m., we’ll welcome another country rock legend, Pure Prairie League, to the Main Stage. 

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on for the concerts. No coolers will be allowed onto the festival grounds, however, snacks are welcome

Free parking will be available on site at the event and a free shuttle will be available from the parking areas to the festival areas.

To get to 370 Lakeside Park, take Exit 2 at Truman/Lakeside Drive. Turn north and follow Lakeside Drive into the park.
