Flooding Concerns Keep 370 Lakeside Park Closed

The city hopes the park can be reopened on May 10.

The threat of flooding this spring will keep 370 Lakeside Park closed, but it could open later this week—as long as the water stays away.

As of Monday evening, St. Peters had announced plans to reopen Lakeside Park at sunrise on May 10. The Kite Festival, Family Bike Ride and St. Peters Health and Wellness Committee special event will be held as scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.

At the park, a note was left for visitors informing them why the park was closed. The note said that while the park was not underwater, things were still shut down because the Mississippi River has flooded and was at the agricultural levee. The note said that if the levee breaks, Lakeside Park could flood with 16 feet of water.
