Last Chance: Rec-Plex South Hosting Fiesta Friday for St. Peters' Kids

This week's last chance has an art show accepting submissions, a golf tournament and a lock-in event for kids.

The will be hosting a Cinco de Mayo party central during Fiesta Friday. 

On Friday evening, May 4, 2012, the Rec-Plex South is hosint a lock-in event that will offer kids ages 10-14 a night with activities: Mexican party games, music spun by DJ Funkmaster, dancing, dodgeball, broomball on ice, basketball with hoop shoot contests, attendance prizes and more.

Fiesta FridayY begins at 7 p.m. at Rec-Plex South, which is located just south of the original St. Peters Rec-Plex building at 5200 Mexico Rd.

The fee is $10 per person if paying in advance and $13 per person if paying at the door. Register online at www.stpetersmo.net/Rec-Connect or by phone at 636-939-2386, ext. 1400.

Concessions, including a nacho special, will be available for sale throughout the evening.

Kids will not be released from this lock-in event until picked up by a parent or guardian. Parents should pick up their child by 11 p.m

St. Peters Hosting Cinnco de Mayo Golf Tourney

Registration is now open for the Cinco de Mayo Shoot-Out golf tournament on Saturday, May 5.

The event is open a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at the . Cash prizes will be awarded to the top places in multiple flights, plus there will be closest to the pin and longest drive contests. The fee is $45 per player and covers golf, a cart and lunch. The tournament offers an optional cash skins game for $40 per team.

Call for Entries “Beyond the Brush” Art Show and Competition

 is looking “Beyond the Brush” from June 8 to Aug. 13.  The art show and competition encourages artists to look past the classic paint brush and onto other tools such as palette knives, fingers, etc. to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind works. Paintbrushes are allowed, however, other tools must also be incorporated into the piece.

The show is open to both youth and adult, amateur and professional artists. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of Painting/Drawing and Mixed Media/Sculpture.  Photography will not be accepted.

The cost to enter as an Arts Centre member is $15 for up for to four pieces. Non-members may submit up to three pieces for $20. The youth entry fee is $5 per piece.

Artwork will be received on Tuesday, June 5, from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The opening reception will take place on Friday, June 8, from 6-8 p.m.
