Man Tackled, Choked, Punched Girlfriend, Police Say

The woman hit her head, putting a football-sized hole in the drywall, according to a deputy's report.

A St. Charles County man faces criminal charges after police said he tackled his girlfriend, causing her to hit her head and put a football-sized hole in the living room wall. A sheriff’s deputy report also said he strangled and punched the woman.

David Flaiz, 32, of the first block of Milky Way Drive in St. Charles County south of , was charged with second-degree domestic assault.

A deputy reported that Flaiz’ girlfriend looked at his cell phone and found a phone number of a woman whom she didn’t know. When she confronted Flaiz about it, he became enraged, according to the report.

Flaiz tackled his girlfriend, hitting her head on the wall and pinned her to the floor, according to the report. The deputy said he choked her with one hand and punched her in the face five to six times.

The woman had bruises on her neck and on the right side of her back near her kidney. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for a sprained neck, the report said.

Flaiz was on probation for possession of a controlled substance after pleading guilty to the charge in 2009. His probation was revoked Aug. 20.

Bond was set at $30,000 cash only.
